"Greater Knowledge - Greater Service"

Purpose

The purpose of the Club shall be to promote the education and professional development of individuals employed in or affiliated with the petroleum, energy and allied industries.

Mission

To enhance and foster a positive image to the global community by promoting the contribution of the petroleum, energy and allied industries through education by using all resources available.

History

The Desk and Derrick Club of Denver was organized in 1951, through the undaunting efforts of a group of determined women, led by Minetta Miller.  It was their goal to form an organization to better educate individuals in the petroleum and allied industries.  Their motto being - an employee with a greater knowledge of the industry is a greater asset to the employer.  This goal is further achieved by attendance at field trips, seminars and special classes.

Community Service

The Desk and Derrick Club of Denver provides speakers to the community and schools on topics relating to energy and offers volunteer assistance to energy related businesses and organizations.  One very popular program is "The Magic Suitcase".

Sister Club

The Desk and Derrick Club of New Orleans is Denver's Sister Club.
